Capman,

What is most important to you in buying a skimmer? Performance? Electric consumption? Ease of maintenance? Price? Like all purchases you should rank them, because this would determine which skimmer types you wouldn't look at. For example, if price is your top concern, you probably wouldn't look at the Beckets or ETS, but would favor the ASM.

As a long-time user of ETS, I can say from a performance perspective, only a beckett could match them. But I have to clean the tube every 2 days because of the efficiency. I don't mind that because performance is the top of my list.

I wouldn't listen to the "latest technology" argument, it's not a valid one. To apply this to cars, does that mean the new hybrids are better than the basic engine that we've been using since Ford introduced the model t? Well, there aren't any hybrids that will pull my boat so no. It's all about which criteria are the most important to you.

My .02 cents....

I've been away from the forum for awhile (I've had lots going on this summer), but thanks for all the recent suggestions. As HFG said though, I have a Euroreef now (now if it was only set up and running I'd be all set!).
