Question

drilling tanks already set up

Jerry and I have been exchanging some thoughts on this on another thread but I thought I'd throw it out there to see if there are any other/unigue ideas...I have a glass 180 tank that is totally built into a corner of my living room (read...wife would kill me if I started demoing the walls around it to try and remove it) and would spend serious money if there was a way to drill it with it in place...any ideas????

drilling a tank with water in it can be done, but it is a RISK.

I agree Jerry, and in the case of helping BigdogZack out, the risk of trying this in the first place is taken by him, and no assumption of liability is in any way implied by me.

I would highly recommend against drilling a tank with water in it. The pressure on all walls of the tank is enormous!!! You are working against that pressure when drilling.... does not sound like a good idea...

It can be done, you'd have to drop the water level in your tank. Do a search on RC, I know there's been a few threads of people who've done it.

That is how I would go about it otolith, definitely wouldn't try just drilling it without dropping the water level as much as possible!

Super. Did you start the tank drilling thread yet? I know I would like to watch for sure, if not drill a few holes.
