Thanks David! I've been using the prestone driveway heat in my 2-part and it has worked great. Growth has never been better.
If you use the Prestone here are the recipes.
for recipe #1 you use 2 cups Prestone per gallon for Ca.
2 1/4 cups baking soda per gallon for Alk.
for recipe #2 you use 1 cup Prestone per gallon for Ca.
1 1/8 cups baking soda per gallon for Alk.

quote=Beng;851616]Hey Jeffie and David, what's the advantage of this 2 part recipe over the Mrs. Wages recipe?
I have the stuffs for both recipes but can't decide which one to use.
Many Thanks,
Beng[/quote]
Mrs wages is used as a suppliment for kalk.
The 2-part is for your daily Ca. and Alk. demand instead of using a reactor or other pricey already pre-mixed 2-parts...

Beng, As far as and advantage there really isn't an advantage of 2 part over Kalkwasser IMO, it's just the 2 part is far more concentrated and can elevate and maintain just about any level you want to keep your tank at. This is why I supplemnt Kalkwasser with the 2 part because Kalkwasser alone will not keep my levels where I want them.

With a number of us on the lookout for the mag flake, I'm sure if someplace in the cities carries it, one of us will stumble across it.
Honestly though, I'm not very optimistic on the chances of finding the exact brand of mag. needed. If by Dec. nobody has found a source I will mailorder mine.

I mean, when I go places that could carry it , I will check. I'm not going to make a special trip or go out of my way to search the town for it. No gas or time wasted.
