digital cameras (revisited)

so its about time i upgraded from this 1.2mp piece to something with a lil more resolution. something basic-onboard macros. i've searched through the photography forums both here and at RC, read all the buyer's guides, and i'm leaning nikon-something in the 3-4 mp range, with price being a definite factor. i'm not too proud to own a hand-me-down camera-so if you're looking to upgrade and have something i might be interested in-by all means contact me. beyond that-i wouldn't mind input about where to purchase such a camera at a reasonable price.

have some equipment i'd be happy to trade as well Aqua Medic Oceanlight, Titan 250 Chiller, +

thanks,
tG

I just bought a Fuji E550 6.3 MPixel for $324.00 off ebay.

Lots of features ( haven't even figured them all out )

Very nice camera for a good price. Retails at Best Buy around $400

If you want it primarily for tank pictures, I recently ( 3 weeks ago ) bought a Nikon 3200 new online for $151.00. IMO: Can't beat it. We have a Canon 5.1 mexapixel camera for family shots etc. but just doesn't take good tank pics. Nikon 3200 does a real good job.

What do you think the reason is that a higher quality camera might not take good tank pictures?

Is there anything that one should look for ?

I have a nikon 950s, with a broken battery door, it needs to be held on with a rubber band. Great photos. works fine otherwise. I liked it so much I bought another 950S to replace it. First one cost me $850 new, second one $200 on ebay. The battery door is a pain in the butt, but I would trade it for something interesting, including livestock. I am going to set up a softies tank soon.

Cannon doesn't as good of a macro shot setting.

Nikon is known for the excellent closeup tank pics......

While we are on this subject, I'm looking at the Konica Minolta Dimage Z3. I can't afford it right now, but it is suppose to be GREAT on the zoom photos, with anti-shake and predictive focus. I like to take pictures of wild birds and zoom is important. I also want to be able to take pics in my tank with the actinic on, and the camera I have now, which is 'old' doesn't seem to be able to do this no matter what I do with white balance. Does anyone have knowledge of the Dimage? I'd just like to know opinions on it.

I got the 3200 from www.eletricsams.com for $151 shipped about 3 weeks ago. You do have to call to confirm at which time they try to sell you accessories but aren't too pushy and did sent it out same day......

If you haven't checked already this is the price search link I was recommended:
