Could be trouble!!
my mother in law is visiting( aka as a cleaning fanatic) and she sprayed OUST, (which is like a lysol air freshner) into the sump area of the aquarium this morning about 10:00 am
I saw her in time to see the mist land in the sump water.
Ok, how serious is this? I have been nervously watching all day. Added some fresh water, but have not done anything else. Everything is fine so far. The corals are not even closing. I have a euroreef protien skimmer. I had just done a water change a couple of days ago
comments??

Good luck
Put some carbon in your system and/or change out what you are using. Poly filters are very helpful too. Setting up some make-up water ready "just in case". Don't panic, you might not have anything to worry about. Just keep monitoring the tank

I would suggest doing a larger water change and running carbon just to be safe.

agree with the carbon, sorry to hear that about your mom doing that. i know how you feel about that. I banded my mom from being near the tank without me there to watch her. Because when im not there watch out here come the chemicals (oust, windex, ect....)

Try the carbon, some waterchanges takien by skimming the surface with a bucket, and skim wet with the ER.

I would do a large water change now and another one first thing tomorrow just do be safe.... Ohh and carbon... lots of carbon. In fact I would change out the first run of carbon after a few hours just to prevent it leaching back out. I agree with Dirk... don't panic, because the reality is there is not much you can do to stop it. Whatever happens happens and it is not worth getting bent out of shape over. I know easier said then done, because personaly I would have gone freakin nuts. I used to freak out when my ma would wash my clothes (not including; socks, white t-shirts, & boxers) with warm water. I know what your thinking why is your ma washing your clothes... this was back while I was in high school... I was perty lazy about that sort of thing back then.

From Oust website-

FIRST AID: If in eyes, hold eye open and rinse slowly and gently with water for 15 to 20 minutes. Remove contact lenses, if present, after the first five minutes, then continue rinsing eye. Call a poison control center or doctor for treatment advice. Have the product container or label with you when calling a poison control center or doctor, or when going for treatment.
Physical/chemical hazards
Extremely flammable! Keep away from fire, sparks, and heated surfaces. Contents under pressure. Do not puncture or incinerate container. Exposure to temperatures above 120ºF may cause bursting.

It also says that it kills bacteria in the air, but not on surfaces.
Sounds like it wouldn't be lethal, depending on the size of the tank.
Tell the inlaw that the tank smells better than she does. Then rent a huge pressure washer give her a good cleaning when she walks out the front door. Yelling "YEAAAAAAA, HOW DO YOU LIKE IT!!" would earn you bonus points in my book.
But thats just me.

wow, thanks for the support and comments! I was ready to OUST the inlaw after the oust spraying. It doesn't even smell by the tank, but she was looking for an opportunity to use the product I think. She was planning to leave on Thursday but changed her departure to Saturday so I guess I was too easy on her.
I do not have carbon and have never used it, but I can get some tommorow. Is carbon safe for corals? I will also do a water change.
I have been pretty worried since I know I have read even cleaning carpets or differnt things like hand lotions can crash a whole tank. I was happy that the zoos didn't start closing or anything. I watched it pretty closely most of the day and now looked again after returning home and things seem fine still.
If things were going to be harmed from this, would I have seen some reaction already or should I prepare myself to wake up in the morning and maybe see something damaged or dieing?
