Clicking in the tank
Had the tank for over a year with no new rock added. This last week i am starting to hear clicking from the tank. Could that be a sign of a pistal shrimp? I have a 2" Clown, 4-5" Fox, and a 2' Eel should i be worried if it is a pistal or would the eel just take care of him.

Its always random and more then one click, so i dont think it is a hermit jumping.

id say it is a pistol if you start seeing sand dug out from under rocks and id say mantis if you don't .
"personally" i think mantis shrimp get a bad rap . they might not be good but they are not really all that bad either . either way , trying to catch one is more trouble than it is worth.

mantis shrimp can be way cool but put your fingers near them and they will show you why it is they get such a bad rep.

I had a mantis that was a hitch hiker on some LR I had purchased. It was a clicking noise. When I found it I made sure I fed him well!

I have that clicking in my tank too, but I have never had any fish go mia, and efforts to trap have been futile. Short of getting rid of all my rock and starting over, I figure I am pretty much stuck with it.

When I got rock in Guam for my tank... I had 3 pistol shimp show up.... they were lots of fun to watch. I could see them through the bottom of the tank... open cabinet. They would make random sounds and mostly at night.
