Chillers or Air Conditioners in Minneapolis

I was wondering what people preferred during the summer months here in the Twin Cities to keep their tanks from over heating, the use of chillers or home air conditioning?

Keeping the tank or sump in the basement helps alot. Most can keep the temps within reason without as long as house has A/C.
Having said that you always hear one of two bad stories every summer from a tank overheating in our forum.......so chillers can definately be a good insurance policy if your cutting it close....

Temp controllers such as Aquacontoller or the Jr where it can shut the lights off at a high temp can also be a good insurance policy.

I keep my central air at a constant 74 degrees in the summer and I have a chiller for backup on my sps tank in case something goes wrong with the AC. Last summer the chiller never kicked on, I had it set to turn on at 82. Didn't need it but felt better having it just in case. Using fans can help to control over heating problems.

We rely on central AC. No chiller plans for our 55, since we have a basic setup with few pumps or "external" heat sources - only the VHO lights, skimmer pump, return pump, and 2 powerheads. That being said, our backup consists of two window AC units that we own from previous homes. Figure if the electric is out, then it dosen't matter - AC or chiller (unless we pony up for a generator then too).
