Chiller Advice

I was wondering what size chiller I would need to keep my 75 gallon aquaruim at temp during the hot summer months ahead. My aquarium is on the second floor of an duplex house without AC! I might put in an in window AC unit this summer but I dont know if that would keep the temp down enough as it still gets to 82 degrees by the end of the day now. Also what uses more electricity a chiller or a AC unit? Also I saw this chiller at myreefcreations.com and it seems like a good price and would draw the temp down plenty if it is not false advertising. It also doesnt say what hp it is so I am assuming 1/5hp. Here is the link and the model # is CL-280

Thanks a bunch,
Josh

hey josh-
civil (a friend here on the board) used that same chiller (it is in fact a 1/10hp) on his 75 gallon tank. he had the tank on the upper level of a town house with the hottest of hot halides over the tank. he had ac but...

i picked up that chiller from him (when he upgraded to a 120g-come to think of it i still owe him some cash!) but the more i think about it-i'm prolly not gonna use it. irenicus was second in line when i picked it up so i should prolly offer it to him but if he passes i'll sell it to ya for what i paid-$150. it is used but in good shape and works perfectly.

that said a/c is nice-and you get to enjoy it-not just the tank.

Does the chiller pull down the temp 10 degrees on up to a 110gallon tank like my reef creations says it does? That sounds like a lot for a 1/10hp chiller.

sorry to hijack your thread josh-i don't have a 110 so i couldn't tell you that but...when choosing a chiller there are many important factors to consider including ambient temperature (including a/c or no a/c), metal halide lighting, any evaporative cooling (fans), heat added by pumps, etc.

btw irenicus is going to take my chiller-sorry to the other interested parties.
