bulkhead gasket question

I am fighting the bulkheads on my sump. Is it OK to gasket BOTH the inside and outside. Does it matter if the threads are on the inside or outside ? I'm just blocking the holes with bulkheads and caps. I got it sealed this way but just want to confirm. I have never used bulkheads before.

Thanks for the time,
Joel

U want the gasket on the side with the flange only - not on the side with the nut.

I don't think it would matter at all. The only thing I've heard regarding gaskets on the outside is that they're prone to cracking/deteriorating over time due to being dry and under "pressure". You can put the threads anywhere you want - I've done it either way before to suit the need. I think most folks will say (male) threads on the outside and gasket on the inside is the "right way", but the threads really don't matter.

There should also be a ring on one side of the gasket, this makes the seal and should be against the surface of the tank...mine are like this anyways maybe not all. Good luck!

So, i should turn them around ?? I have the flange on the outside and the threads and nut on the inside. Gasket on the nut, and added a gasket on the flange. So gaskets on both sides. I'm just testing the sump so i can change it now very easy. Much easier than a few months down the road.
Thanks for the time,
Joel

Nut on outside, using only gasket on the flange. Not a drop so far. I left the cap on the flange end, figure that should be ok either way. **** instructions say only that the gasket needs to be on the water side, not the flange.

Thanks for the time,
Joel
