Blue tangs can get stressed real easy, more than likely it is stress from the other one being introduced. Tangs should usually be added at the same time unless in a very large system.

That seems pretty small for 2 blue tangs. Even the 75 does really...

I am not the tang police but because I have two tangs in my 75 one small blue tang that is about 2 inchs long and a big yellow tang and this is way to much for me. Luckily I will be upgrading by the time the blue gets bigger, but two in a 46 is not good, even in a 90 it is not good, they need more swimming room to be happy. When mine get bigger is when my upgrade will take place. I would say they need at least a 6 foot tank when at full growth to be really happy and not stressed out. One full grown blue is not a good idea in a 4 foot tank. IMO

based on simple territoral needs two of any size in too much for a 46 I think. I am not trying to be the tang police either but the reality is most of us have a little tang police in us, simply because they have a high fatality rate due to stress and many people seem to make the same mistake over and over. I had a blue in a 58 and it ate well for a while but in the end I believe it got stressed out and died as a result. I wasn't even looking to get a tang but it sorta fell into my lap and I figured I would give it a temporay home... then as soon as mentioned giving it up my daughter had a fit about getting rid of Dory... I'm sure most of you could see how I lost that moral battle... I knew better and should have done what was right. In the end I had to explain to my daughter that Dory died... Next time I think I will take the lesser of the 2 evils.

You may have to watch these tangs carefully. Blue Tang is very easy to get ick especially under stress. You can bulid some hiding places which are too smalll for bigger blue tang, then the smaller blue tang may feel safer.
