Best place for live rock?
The first rock I bought was from a seller on a bay auction site and was not as good as what he claimed. I will be starting my second 55g reef tank soon and was wondering if anybody has any good place(online or local) that they have bought from.

I have bought a lot of my rock from Dirk, he has a lot of good rock on average. I have heard good things about rock from premium also.

Jerry can order some stuff from CA that is similar to fiji/marshall for under $4.00lb includes shipping. The stuff was suposedly pre-cured but it still needed a lot of curing. Overall it had some decent shapes. Some was heavier than I would have liked. Had moderate coraline growth. I ordered 100lbs.
Personally I would look for a tank breakdown and buy stuff from them. All but 3 pieces of rock in my tank are from tank breakdowns.

I have been to Dirk's several times, and I guess I do not know the answer to that question. I would say its more like an "experience".

I would recomend calling Dirk or PMing him. I think he has 2 1000 lobster tanks with rock plus a few more tanks. I have not been to Jerry's but Dirk has a LOT of stuff

I just got 100LB from premium, and it was good rock, I think Tampa Bay would be better if you were going to cure it yourself.

www.oceanproaquatics.com I ordered 50 lbs of the ultra premium Walt Smith for under $200 and it was great looking from day 1 and cured in about 7 days in a brand new setup. It has tons of white, green, pink and purple ca and is now starting to show some of the other goodies. Pinneaple sponge, featherdusters, tiny snails and best of all guaranteed no aptasia or bristles.

I have seen numerous pictures of live rock from Tampa Bay Saltwater, and I have to say that I'm impress. Makes me want to get rid of all my tonga rock and get 100#of those, but I don't want to run the risk of getting unwanted stuff.

Dirk has cured stuff for close to online prices if you figure shipping. I bought a few big pieces and had no change in water quality. If you plan ahead you can bring some water with and keep in submerged and this way you can pick exactly what you want.

$2.00/lb, can't beat that! (FREE shipping).
Disclaimer: I have never bought anything from seller so can't comment on quality.
