Beginner reef tank
This has been up and running for a couple of months now and I think I am ready to start adding some beginner type frags.
Specs:
40gl tall tank
150w HQI + 2x18w actinic
CPR compact sump/skimmer/filter + HOB CS90 overflow
30+lbs of live rock
Since it's such a tall tank, it might be tough to get SPS to flourish, what do you guys think?
I am looking for suggestions for easy to care for softies, etc. This is my first crack at any kind of corals besides the mushrooms in my big tank.

what kinda lighting you got? some sps do not need as much light as others . I can get you a frag of zoanthids if you wanna come over and take a look at the canopy (or not, its not a big deal, I just say that since one frag is probably not worth the drive )

150w HQI w 2x18w flourescent actinics.
You think the zoanthids would do well with that?

how tall is this tank? if you put acro frags in there they will prolly adjust to that light. i had all my acros under 150 HQI in my 75 and they did well, good colors, good growth

Need to get a system down (whatever works best for you ) to be able to CONSISTANTLY keep alk up around 8+ dkh and CA above 400. Once you have that down, you can start adding some SPS. I wouldn't invest any decent money into hard corals until you have that down pat..........
For the size tank you have look into the homemade 2 part recipes. If you can automate the dosing even better but as long as done daily it can be a manual process.
