Auto Top Off plans

I am looking for some plans to make an auto top off that uses gravity feed. Wondering if anyone had a link to some I could get some ideas from. I found a container at US PLastics that I think will fit under the stand. I eventually plan to dose Kalk so that is also a consideration. I once saw a plan for a cheap 5 gallon pail set up and I can't locate it this morning.

Alos, I can't seem to get the Search function to work today, I keep getting an error. Typical Monday!

As far as gravity feed, There really isn't much to it to need plans.

Finding the right size container is the hard part. Can also just build one from acrylic if it's a real odd size and want to maximize volumne.

Drill a hole taped and threaded for 1/4" tubing, quest valves are nice, or use a bulkhead and pvc part to reduce to 1/4".

You sump being made of glass, probably not worth trying to drill a 5/8" hole. Get a piece of arylic to drill the hole in. Mount the Kent float valve onto it. Secure the arcylic in the sump via sylicone or can be just a stand with you LR parts on it to weigh it down on bottom.

Using Kalk you will want to clean the float valve every couple months in distilled white vinegar for any CA deposits. Best to just get 2 Float valves and just swap them out to clean the other one.

I've never seen any real advantage to using a Nurce design, only one being that it won't clog as easy but if you keep the float valve cleaned every two months or so that's not a big issue. Nurce having to be airtight, can make it more difficult to fill because you probably dealing with a much smaller hole and under a stand which is already cramped may be a pain.
