Angle Iron

I am trying to start building my new stand for my 75 Gallon. I am considering making the basic stand out of angle iron and then attaching wood to that.

Any thoughts/comments/concerns on doing that, as opposed to the making the stand out of 2x4's like I did for my 55 gallon?

The second question is, does anyone know where I would get some angle iron and what I might being looking at as far as price?

I hope everyone is enjoying the 4th of July.

Thank you.

There is a place in Minneapolis called Discount Steel. When I built my fish House out of 1" aluminum tubing they were a 1/3 the cost of any other place I called. They serve the public and have a huge yard of metals. Additionally if it is only minor pieces you need they have a scrap bin as well. I'm not familiar enough with metal prices to venture a guess as to cost but well worth a phone call.

I used 1" square tube steel for my stand under the 125.

I have made stands out of angle iron and square tubing. I would recommend square tubing. With angle iron you will have to cut 45 degree angles on the top and bottom frames which can be a pain to match up. Tubing is basically one staight cut and weld.
