mg 1110

its a 75 gal with 20 sump only fish in there are 3 percs, royal gramma and a manderin gobie. got some hermits and snails.
any ideas? i run a 150 HQI bulb about 6hours a day and 440 W VHO suber blues abour 10 everything in the tank looks really healthy!

i got red slime, brown slime alge, green slime, hair, bubble, something that looks like grass!!!!

liek i said they are all in less then 2 square inch growths so no major take over yet but i wanna fiz it before i have issues!!

i know how to get rid of each of these things individually, just wondering if anyone has a clue why i'm getting so many diffrent kinds!

Water quality is the key, with good quality over time it should dissapear. However, trying to determine by numbers alone will not get you anywhere because typically the algae can absorb before it ever reaches a measurable amount.

No real secrets. Heavy skimming, 0 tds water quality for evaporation and salt mixing. Regularly removing detritus buildup in sand/live rock. Keeping close eye on type of food and amount given.

I personally am not a fan of using any phosphate type media becuase risks involved with lowering too fast and possible leaching if using aluminum based stuff.

I am a firm believer in Kalkwasser, and honestly feel that contributes to success with preventing algae issues amount other things. However, if you are using or plan to use with auto top off very special care ( redundancy ) should be used to keep from overdosing.
