Airport to Airport shipping alternative

I've been looking around at livestock & LR shipping methods, and several places (like premium aquatics) offer airport to airport shipping where they drop it off and you pick it up at the airport.

Anyone actually done this and know the details on how you go about claiming the packages once they get to MSP? Do they give you a flight # and it just shows up in the baggage claim with the passengers' luggage, or is there somewhere you go to claim it? ???

This looks like a better option to save some $$ on shipping if you order LR online.

I have never done it but I have heard way more bad experiences from that versus having it delivered to your house.

I think most of the bad experiences I have read about were do to the people not calling the airport to verify everything is cool before they head over there. Let us know how it works out if you do it...

It's a breeze, just have the shipper give you the flight number, and the airbill number, then show up at the cargo area to pick it up when the flight comes in. It's really only good if you're having a large amount of livestock come in because there's a flat rate up to 100lbs.

I used this option to do a large purchase of liverock last year. It was with Delta and I went to the cargo pickup and had to wait almost 2 hours because they had to unload the plane and had I not been waiting in the office they would have blown it off until the next day. Overall even with the delay and sitting in a not so nice waiting room it was worth it. The rock was boxed up that morning and shipped to me same day. I don't think they would have helped a guy load all of this into a car so be prepared to do some lifting and bring something to read it could be awhile before the plane is unloaded. I think it would be better for the animals if your order is large enough to ship it this way as they will spend less time intransit but make sure they package it well it is freezing in the cargo areas.

Sounds like a good option, try Bills plan. Hopefully they don't lets the rocks roast on the tarmac while you wait.
