I am just starting some of the things you have just done, I am going to see Jns tonight to get holes in my tank drilled, and would like to get a coat of paint on the back. I have a buddy with a cnc machine who does a lot of work with plastic and he is going to make my surface skimming overflow. He scored me a piece of 3/16" black acrylic (38"x26") for $17. Once I have a dimension for the bulkhead I can have him cut the overflow box. Still need a pump, bigger skimmer (might wait for a couple weeks for this), and misc plumbing.

Also are you going to put check valves on the locline behind the tank? Water could potentially drain back through those lines couldn't it?

mad-krylon fusion spray paint from walmart works great on glass and is easy to apply just tape and newpaper off the rest of the tank. i used it on my tank which was setup a year ago and there ain't a single scratch or chip in the paint.

Good to see "Big Dumb" didn't loose that drill in his moves. I have cut a hole or two for him with that drill and it is awesome for cutting holes. Smeese, next time you see Louis tell him "hi" from me and make sure you call him "Big Dumb" first. He'll know right where that is coming from and will have a reply to that.

I am eyeing up one of those gen-x pumps also. My plumbing may be very similar to yours, but I don't think I will use penducators or educators. I am planning to run 1" into a y and then split off to two 3/4" and have 2- 3/4" loclines off each 3/4" for a total of four outputs, one in each corner. Any advice if any of this is a bad idea? This is a 65 gallon.

You are not gonna have a ton of flow doing it that way, but it will certainly work. Ideally I would have liked to run a 1 inch output split into two half inch outputs instead of 3/4" but I may go to two pumps down the road so I just put in the 3/4" I assume I may lose a little flow here but with the back preassure caused bu the penductors I think I can get away with this. If your pump had a 1 1/2 inch output a pair of 3/4 inch returns would be ideal. So on and so forth. As far as teh GenX are concerned. Great Stats....I will let you know how it works. Great price too.

With the gen-x pcx-30 it loses a fair amount of psi (max head). Maybe splitting a 3/4" into two 1/2" w/ two loclines on each would be better for the smaller tank I have? There are just so many decisions, at least plumbing can always be redone.
