Question

Advice Needed

I have a 75g drilled tank and a stand from blue reef aquatics. The stand only has supports around the outside to support the tank. Originally I cut a piece of 1 inch wood that would set on top of the stand and then place my tank on that. Before I set it up I am wondering if I should use the pink foam insulation instead to handle any unevenness. I can't use both becuse the trim on the stand will only cover the extra 1" thickness from the board of foam.

What do you think I should do?

Thanks

i think my aga 120 modern stand only supports around the edges. Better to wait for the seasoned folk to arrive though with more wisdom

glass tanks only require support around the perimeter because it is the vertical panels of glass (not the flat bottom) that bear all the weight. now using a flat board on top of the stand essentially cross braces and stabilizes the whole structure. that said unless it is wobbly-i would just go with the foam. it will level things out so that the tank is most evenly supported. if you want the best fo both worlds a cheap piece of 3/8" plywood and some 1/2" foam (plenty thick) would work great and may still be hidden by the trim...if it were me though i'd prolly just go with foam.
