Acrylic Aquarium Scratch Removal Question

I have now had my first used acrylic tank for a bit over 1 1/2 years. I had used the Pentair scratch removel kit when I first bought the tank, and it work okay. I have since put some scratches back The worst of these being on the outside.

I'm looking to see what other acrylic tank owners/builders have used to polish the outside of the tank, as I still have the sandpaper, but the polishing liquid abrasive that came with the kit is gone.

I have searched and found some using Google, like Micro-Mesh, Janvil ect; but there are many it seems and would hate to do more harm then good.

Yeah, I'd like to know how it worked. It's quite a bit cheaper than the stuff I bought from the local acrylic store.

The Micro Mesh will restore acrylic to its high gloss if properly done. It does not matter if it is done inside or outside the tank.

The NC-78 Kit is what I use and you do need to go as high as 12000 grit to get the original finish...I have taken out scratches as deep as a fingernail and nobody can see where it was...

FYI: Rockler woodworking now carries Micro-mesh in stock in the sandpaper aisle....

Greg,

You say you can use it inside or out, is this with livestock in the tank though?
I'd thinking a little sanding wouldn't hurt, but what about using the Micro-Gloss?

thansk for the info, this is another I found, looks as though it is all liquid,

Thought I could always try it on a scrap piece, like a DVD the kids got a hold of

Here's what I've used.

Works ok. The small bottles are pretty cheap but they don't go very far. You certainly can NOT use these liquid products inside your tank when it has water and organisms in it.

It would be cool if you could you the micro mesh inside the tank without draining it.

I have not used it but as you can see Greg has... Of course I would have to assume it works well considering it is what Greg uses...
