acro problem
i have a colonies sized green slimer i picked up recently that had a ig white spot near the base, i was pretty sure something had touched it, recently it started to bleach in the tank, (nothing else has in the tank) but the polyps are still out, so my question is should i be worried?? i have the animal half way up the tank under a 150 MH HQI
thanks much

Maybe flatworms. Any chance you can post pictures?

If it is in the center area it may be from low flow. If it starts working its way up the branches then frag it out.

Bottom up is not unusual if it is a large colony and the bottom is recieving less light.
Not to scare you but should be closely inspected for the dreaded acro eating flatworms and/or the eggs and can also be a sign of that too.....
Keep a close eye and start fragging if it appears to be spreading upward.

the problem isn't at the end of the bas, the coral encrusts about 2 inchs then there is a dead white spot. thats why i was almost sure it was touched. with the bleaching it is happening on a side where it is getting less light so maybe thats it ?

one thing i forgot to add, when this coral is out of the water, it really really smells bad, somewhat like a newly opened bottle of refridgerated phytoplankton any ideas?

were you moving them around at all. If you touch one right after another you can burn a finger print right into them from the chemical warefare from coral to coral slime on your finger.

Is the coral getting enough flow? I have gotten dead spots on some corals when the flow patterns get changed on them.
