125g BUILD NEED HELP

this is where iam at. i have AGA 125g RR tank with rounded over flows in each corner with a drain and return in each. my sump is a 30g long that i was thinking of drillin so i could put a 10g next to it. i was thinking i would have my skimmer in my 30g on one side and a refugiem on the other and from there that would drain in to my 10g for my pump. the pump i picked up is a IWAKI MD-100RLT i know its alittle big but i plain on putting a ball valve on the return side. for my return and drain i planed on taking my 2 returns and 2 drains from my tank and making all of them drains. the bulk heads a 2 1" and 2 3/4". for the return part of it i was thinking of running it over the back and Teeing it off so i can run 4 eduter (sp). i know the eduters flow alot of water so that y iam putting the ball valve on my pump to control it better. so my question is how dose this sound. i was maybe thinking of running a closed loop but not sure. so ne help would be great.

thanx
jeremy

I would just cap the 3/4 inch holes, 2 drain lines is plenty. If you use the 3/4 inch as drains you will just have more plumming to do. I would make sure to put a ball valve on your drains as well, just in case you decide you need to scale back those eductors to the point where the flow cant keep up.

If your not planning to use the 3/4" returns. It sure can't hurt to use them as backup overflow lines. Just place the plumbing slightly higher than the 1" drains to be used so they serve as just a backup in case something goes wrong with the main drain lines.

I myself would feel more comfortable with using a big pump like that as a closed loop rather than a return but I've already voice my opinion on that to you. Taxing the overflows and the potential noise associated as well as causing lots potential headache with bubbles in the sump is just not something I would mess with.

I would do just the opposite, turn the 10g into the refugium. This way is need be it can be totally seperated from the system in case of a need for quarantine or other use.
