Cool

WTB 5 or 10 lb CO2 bottle

I've got a dual chamber calcium reactor coming from Andy, and I'm trying to get the associated "stuff" together for it. I need a CO2 bottle, either 5 or 10 lb capacity. Has anyone seen them locally here in the Atlanta area, or know where I can get one? I guess my other option is mail order, although I'd prefer to get it locally if I can.

I just set up one of Andy's Calcium reactors. I looked on line and locally for a CO2 bottle. I chose to buy a 10lb bottle from a welding supply dealer in Lawrenceville called HOLOX. I found the range for 10lb bottles ran from $60 to $100. I paid $60 my bottle because it was the cheapest one I could find.

I found some on line (E-Bay) that I might have been able to get for around $60 but that price did not cover the cost of shipping, I figure that I got a good deal.

JUst be very Careful to buy a new canister, or make sure the canister has been used only for CO2 . It could be disaster. Trust me...

Lightson...

I hadn't considered that. You sound like you had a bad experience. Tell us what happened.

I took My new bottle in for a refil and just switched it out with one the shop had,I forget what the sticker said that was previously was in canister that I switched for but it made everything in the tank sick, had a massive die off it was a disaster. So I would personaly go with a new canister ,that way you know that only CO2 was in the canister and always have that canister refilled.

That's just a heads up , because im sure people have bought used canisters with no issues.

FYI these tanks have to be hydrostatically tested every five years, so unless you buy a new one or check the date on the bottle you could be getting one that will need to be tested very soon.

Yeah, I think you've convinced me. Think I'm going to order a new one from Premium Aquatics.
