Who Wants a MANTIS SHRIMP??

just found this dude staring at me and I decided to see how quickly he'd come out of his rock into a bucket. Picked up the LR and placed it in a 5 gl bucket and then I started to probe around all his escapes. Took all of about 3 minutes.

He's your typical caribbean smasher, reddish brown and about 2.5 - 3.0 inches long. He's quite entertaining but he needs a new home.

Any takers???

Whoever can jump on this little guy, definately do so. I got a mantis in a 5 gallon right next to my computer and he's the most curious creature I've ever had. Always pops his head out when I come near. And of course, meal time is quite the sight.....

Heck what do you feed a mantis? If he is not gone by this weekend, I can drive up and get him Dale.

I figure I can put him in an eclipse tank. Just grab some sand from my tank and a piece or two of live rock.

I don't have to feed him live fish do I?

Ray

Ray, he really enjoys raw shrimp, my right index finger, a few astrea, even flake food.

Harley, I have no idea if I will be able to make the next mtg, however, you have first dibs since I did not hear back from M Kelly. It's your call.

If you can come up here, he's yours... otherwise I'd say Ray can come pick it up. I really don't want to provide the care for it in a separate tank, so I'm interested in finding him a new home as quickly as possible.

Just let me know. I think I want to try to see how big I can get him. I figure in a tank by himself. I am also guessing that if he is one of those Glass Smasher types, acrylic would be the way to go. I have some guppies in saltwater for one of the larger pipefish I have. I guess I am curious to see one hunt.
