which LFS has the best Live ROck?
I need some smaller pieces of Live rock form my new refugium. I'd like to get some rock with a little life and pods and such.
THe LFS around me just have plain rock, looks like baserock, no life nothing.
WHich of the following would you suggest?
Aquarium Showcase
Cappuccino Bay Aquarium
Marine & Tropical Fish
I've never been to any of these before.....

CBA gets my vote. Of course you will have to buy a couple corals while your in there (you will see what i mean ). Aquarium showcase used to be awesome but since the change in ownership i have seen it really go downhill

THe first Live rock I ever purchased was from Avarium, it was awesome, covered in corriline (sp) and polyps and micro algea would appear.....now all this stuff is chalky white, no life and $6-$8 per pound.

I seeded my fuge with rubble from premium aquatics. At $1.49/lb and 2-day ground shipping, it was quite a deal. Now, my fuge is loaded with pods and other microfauna.

I would use Jenn @ Imagine Ocean. She typically has Marshall Island Rock and it's the best I have seen anywhere.
PS. That's what I have in my 150, deep purples and oranges

I take back what I said about the two LFS around me. I checked out there LR during lunch and they actually had some pretty nice stuff.

When did AS changer their ownership? Was it before or after the ARC meeting? Thanks.

dunno about the meeting but its been about a year i think since the new owner came in. i went in there a couple months ago and the show tank was half dead and ate up with hair algae. the rock tanks looked terrible as well as the sps corals were growing algae. the fish tanks still looked good though.....

you'd think changing ownership would have the opposite effect on a business.

When I went there (ARC meeting), I did not see any problems. I bought a very nice crocea clam, and I was planning on visiting them in the future. I never saw the store when it was under the previous management though, so I cannot compare the two.
