Whats the going rate for bubble tip anemones?

Just curious, does anyone know by chance how much these anemones are going for at our LFS? I'm thinking about getting one to go with my clownfish, but I really have no idea on the price range. It will be my first anemone, and I'm always scared to try something new that is pretty expensive (clams for example). Not that I plan for it to die, but I'm always nervous. Thanks.

Chad

I aquired my first one for $50 from a lfs but it had 2 pounds of live rock that came with it. I would say $30 is a great price, $50 for a "show" quality. No more than $60. Just make sure it has at least 3watts/gal and good water quality.

I think free. They keep splitting. I have one getting big right now if he doesn't divide on his own. I may do it for him. You could have one then.

Mines split about 8 times already. Babies come all the time. I normally give mine away.

That would be awesome to get a free one if you don't mind giving it away. I actually have a false perc. already. I'm not sure if it will host an anemone, but he likes to host my colony of palys!

Also, are rose BTA's more expensive than others? Is there a better type of anemone that I should be looking for. I just want something colorful to go in a tank by itself with my clownfish and maybe a shrimp or two. If anyone is looking to get rid of one, let me know. I will be more than happy to take it off your hands. Thanks.

They host in anything. My 2 Clowns in my 90 are hosting in my Frogspawn. My 2 clownfish in my 25 are hosting my Colt coral. The anenome that I have is in my 12 gallon nano and has a Tomato clown in it. The false Perc has nothing in host in in there. So he hides on the outskirts staying away from the Tomato.

Clowns host anything I have found.

I have had a long tentacle anemone now for three years that has never split at all and is very large, 8 - 10 inches in diameter. Is there anything I can do to encourage it to split as it's getting almost too big?

If you feel lucky, you can split it yourself with a razor blade. I saw an article on that process a few months ago.

As far as getting it to split on it's own, have you tried feeding it?
