What would you recommend?

Alright im looking to get a new(used) skimmer for my new set up.. Price doesnt matter really, even a good used skimmer for my sized take is under 200. But what should I go with..

Urchin? Berlin? Coralife? or another brand? I want something that will go in sump, and will be plenty big enough for up to a 50 gallon system. Im going to have a 30 cube but with a sump and a fuge it should be no smaller than 40 or so gallons.

I was hoping to have everything but the lights for this tank by next week, and if the lights that im looking at are still there I should have them by the 13th or may and have the tank up by the 17th. But Im at a loss when it comes to skimmers....

Also I knew I was going to regret missing the april meeting, but what should I go with, CL or a seio? The system will be sps lps mix, maybe with some zoos tossed into the bunch. I like the idea of a QO 4000 or mag 9.5 with a squid, but a seio m820 would be cheaper and just easier.

i need to hear some opinions. What do you other cube people use? Or anyone that uses any of this equipment, flaws perks lets hear them all.

Well I am not a cube person, but I would heartily recommend the Coralife Super Skimmer. I have the smaller model on my 65 reef tank, and it has worked magnificently once it got broken in (about the first week or so). Have had it for about 9 months now and wouldn't trade it for anything.

I keep hearing so many good things about those online, I just am scared bc the 65 gallon one is actually less pricy than the seaclone that im using now.. But the seaclone is HORRIBLE. If petsmart didnt have the best return policy ever I would have already trashed it.

i also am having great luck with the super skimmer 65. this is my first tank but all ive read about was how skimmers must be adjusted all the time to get them to run just right, not this one, ive set it and it skims perfect with no adjustments, im very happy with it.

I looked at those skimmers, I would think that the MR2 would be a little bit Overkill for my tank.. Maybe a MR1, But its rare to find anyone giving one of them up...

What about the berlins? No good?

I have 2 MJ 900's with Hydors in my 30 Cube. Lately my SPS growth has exploded, I think I have hit a nice stage where params are great, and the tank has matured nicely I am almost at the year mark. The Hydos make them a little bulkier in the tank, but they seem to work very well.

that's serious overkill for a 55g or less. mr1, asm g2x, ev90 or 120,
If have sump i wouldn't waste money on a HOT skimmer.
Urchin is a sump version of a hot, the css 125 would be better i'd imagine.
the ev or asm will kill the css in what i've seen.
if get an ev don't skimp on pump, you'll regret it. really would say go with eheim1260.

The great thing about the coralife skimmer is if you dont have a sump you can HOT use it for now, and when you get a sump you can also use it in the sump. It will work even better once in the sump from what I hear too.
