Wanted!!!! SPS Frags

Switching from LPS and Softies to SPS. Would like some nice SPS frags. Have ordered acro and been dissappointed with the delivery and would much rather find locally. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Most of our sponsors actively sell sps frags at a resonable price. Plus you'll get a 10% discount if you present your ARC membership card.

Also every general meeting (2nd Tuesday of every month) tends to atract alot of buying/selling/Trading of frags of all sorts just as the meeting aproaches.

You could probably trade some of your LPS and Softies for some sps. Let people know what you have for trade and see what they come up with as an exchange.

Thanks C.K and Rick O. Rick O, that may very well be the prettiest yellow leather I have ever seen. Would sure love some of that. I really enjoy the flourescent SPS. Yellows, blues, purples, greens, pinks, etc. I am just fascinated by them. I currently have a 58 gallon tank running a 175 MH and two 55 watt power compact actinics. Would I be wise the go to the 20K mx bulb and should I move from PCs to VHO. Would it be worth the money spent? Send me an email with what you have available and hopefully we can get together. I recently purchased an acro with a very reputable online vender and when my prized possession arrived, it had no water and several pieces broke off. I was sick, so I sent an email to them and sure they agreed to give me credit on the next purchase but I really dont want to go throught that again unless I have to. Again, thanks for your help.

I don't have any experience with a 20,000K bulb so I can't comment other than to say that I don't particularly care for lights that look blue. To me it doesn't show the natural look of the tank. I'm running 6500K with VHO actinics. In your case I would run 10,000K and leave the PC actinics. But that's just my opinon.

I use a 20k Radium on an HQI ballast which I really like. But there are trade offs. For example, (although I've done no testing on my own) I hear that a 6.5k or a 10k bulb with 03 will give you a better growth rate from your corals. But due to space contraints I went with the 20k as I didn't have room for both.

There are also cost factors too. A 6.5k bulb tends to be cheaper than the 20k's. But you also have to replace your 03's as well (although not as often IMO).

BTW I would also NOT recommend using the 20k bulbs on anything but a 400watt HQI ballast. They don't burn properly on the 250 or normal 400 ballast and tend to give a really blue look which I don't like either. On the 400watt HQI I get a real nice blue/white balance.

I've got a 58 and have a new (2 month old) 250w 20K XM bulb w/ 2-65w actnic pc's. As opposed to Rick, I like a 'blue' look. The XM started very blue but has since whitened considerably. My sps frags seem to be growing as well as always (especially the one's from Rick), but I don't have any experience w/ 65K as the previous bulb was a 10K AB.

It's just a matter of personal preference. You're welcome to take a look at my tank sometime to judge for yourself.

Fishtails, Thomaston is approximately 60 miles from Atlanta. Will you be attending the meeting in August.

Fishtail.... I'm in Dalton about 20 mins from you. I'd be happy to take the Acro Frag from you, if you still want to get rid of it. Thanks, Dale
