i think i remember watching a special on reefs that said the black tips will hunt at night, but i was just there a few hrs ago and they were there, swimming around. it could've been that somebody was cleaning over by their end of the tank... :-)

Know what you mean...I'm bordering you in ND.

Too bad they didn't have the girls there for SWU...that would have been cool to see 4 of them. But from the sounds of things on CNN's site, they will be there for a while....so maybe next year.

I personally thought some of the tanks from GA were too small. Belugas looked like they were squished together. That's like sticking 5 yellow tangs in a 30gal.

I don't even wanna mention the sea lions or was it seals? There were a whole bunch in that little glassed area. There should be way more room for them to swim.

I thought the GA venue was way too big and should've used more space for the tanks.

the beluga tank is 800,000 gallons, right? you don't see the whole thing through that large viewing glass.

A beluga grows to about 15 feet and can weigh up to 3,300 lbs. let's assume that each one of the whales reaches both those numbers. That's 75 feet of mamal and 16500 lbs. In per gallon terms, that's 888 gallons per INCH of mamal and 48 gallons per lbs.

Keep in mind that the beluga's don't breath the water they swim in.
