sorry! Longnose hawkfish, and longnose butterfly.

I understand there are two types of longnose butterfly one does eat coral and one is a hit or miss.

NOT REEF SAFE...
NOT REEF SAFE.

Any hawk will eat shrimp, craps and snails.

Dang, what the total fish count in your tank now? Are you actually thinking of two more?

3 chromis- 1 inch each
1 royal gramma- 2 inches
1 clown goby- -1 inch (still haven't seen him)
1 yellow head jawfish- 2 inches

Most of my fish are small, or fish that hide, not fish that are open swimmers, so I was thinking of those two fish, but now i'm not too sure.

That's not as bad as I thought, word on the street is that you are in the process of collecting enough livestock to open your own store. I say go with the long nose hawk, and enjoy a really cool fish.

would you say he's a good fish in a reef tank, or a 50/50- don't want any mess-up's.

I believe the strict text book answer lays in the not reef safe category, but some sources say it can be done. Dr Fosters has a matrix that list it as a posibility. I'd give it a 60% chance that he will eat other invertebrates in the tank. He will not bother the coral.

I believe that any loss is awful if you don't plan way ahead on the big picture of what you really want your tank to become. Just another "adult" comment - glad to see you're doing some research and asking questions.

The only way to truley worry about nothing in your tank is to buy REEF SAFE FISH man. Any shrimp you add (you don't want one now but you might later) will be for dinner. The two collest things in my tank are shrimp...
