turbostart?

Can someone tell me what this stuff does? My friend is setting up a 30 gallon tank, and for some reason he keeps putting this stuff in. I tried to figure out what this stuff does, he just said its bacteria.. and it costs about $30 for a tiny bottle of it. He added to his tank once and killed all kinds of stuff, including 6 damsels. Should he be putting this stuff in his tank?

Hey there, Matt! Little nano doing great. When we first set up our tank, the LFS owner we spoke of, set us up with Turbostart. I saved the pkg. insert. Here are some things it says:

"Biological Conditioners
-concentrated
-Rapidly seeds biological filters and corrects ammonia/nitrite imbalances
-Greatly reduces fish loss
-New hobbyists should still start with "starter fish"to ensure success, allowing time to learn the ropes with durable animals. You can add new fish as soon as Turbostart is added"

He had us use it because we needed to seed our bioballs(fish only at that time) We didnt like it because it just sorta messed up the mother nature way of cycling. Your friend would be better off, IMO, getting seeded sand or filter media from someone.
Thats just MHO.
LMK if you want me to send you the broshure(dont know that Ive ever written that word, spelling prolly wrong)

Ah okay, i dont think he needs to be using this stuff either. I told him just to use LR to cycle.. but oh well. Thanks for the info.

Turbo --- Miracle --- Bulletproof

If a product has any one of those words in it (or similar type words) I tend to stay away from it.

In our world nothing good hapens Turbo fast without other reprocussions.

There are no Miracles in our tanks only natural processes ---- besides only GOD can preform miracles.

Bulletproof was being used to imply a sure thing --- when was the last time anything in your tank was a "sure thing"

Most of the stuff people put in their tank scares me (not so much the product but the person for using it)
