Strange acting Clown Tang

Just brought clown tang. He's acting strange. My first thought is that he is stressing!! It's been two days.

All he does is bang into the rock and the glass. He's not eating. I have a 55gal with about 60 pounds of rock. I have yellow tang, 2 clowns and a pajima.

Any suggestions

HELP!!!!!

Do you have a quarintine tank? I would drop him in one if so. Is either of his eyes bulging? I know my flame angel did that when it had pop eye.

Not to be the bearer of bad news, but there are a lot of things that can go bad. Intermittent "blindness" is usually a bad symptom. It can be caused by a lot of thing, but it is usually the start iof a downward spiral. If you can, try to increase the oxygen level in the water (more pumps, airstone, whatever you can), and keep the water as clean as possible.

Things to learn from this are to ALWAYS QUARANTINE, and try to do research on your fish selection. Clown tangs should not be kept in a 55 gallon, they are far too active and require very fast and oxygenated water. If it does pull through, it will grow quickly, and certainly outgrow your 55 gallon. Furthermore, clown tangs are known for having a poor survival record.

Good luck.
