they swim out further, but these teeth are millions of years old. That is an awesome beach find! Really rare to find a tooth of that quality on the beach! Where did you find it?

the scary thing is too, some people (scientists) believe the megalodon may still be alive, but in deeper, unexplored water in the pacific. there are deep sea vents that release 700 degree water, and the megalodon likes warm water- we can tell by where the teeth are found, so it'd be warm enough down there for them to live. We have not found evidence to support this theory, but we can't say it doen't live. new species are being descovered all the time, only several decades ago we dicovered the twenty foot megamouth shark, and japanese scientists trying to find the megalodon, found the twenty four foot goblin shark instead (and this shark lived while the megalodon did. Also, less than 1% off the ocean has been researched.... that other 99% can be hiding this goliath shark.... we are yet to find out...

I grew up collecting shark's teeth along the beach.. My fondest memories are with my grandmother walking with her in Myrtle Beach, SC. Grandma found a wolley mammath tooth one time on the beach. The last company I worked for, HQ was on Amelia Island. I walked the beach evertime I was down there. Collected over 100 one day. Most of my beach collecting is 2" or smaller. I have three jars full of shark's teeth.
The other thing about FB/Amelia Island is all the fossil fragments you find. I have quite a few. I wish I knew how to ID them.
I have always wanted a large one for display. But they are sure $$. Maybe it is time for me to take up diving to go collecting with Sharkboy!

Sharkboy I am with you on that theory. I have done a few research papers on the ocean for school and the animals are far different than the ones we are used to seeing. We do not know what is in the ocean.

i kind of hope the megalodon is still alive, it'd be really cool. I can't believe so many people here collect teeth. We should have a tooth dive next year.

ohh.. i can recomend an awesome seller, i've bought 80% of my teeth from him... just so you know big teeth aren't cheap... here's his website www.megalodonteeth.com if you look on the megalodon catalouge, there are certain teeth listed, and the chart above it for cheaper, lesser grade teeth. if there's something in particular you want, just email Steve, and i'm sure he'll have what you're looking for. the orange- unavailable tooth on that page is soon to be mine!

Here's my newest tooth, i should have it in about 3-4 days. It has an extremely rare color, and is from the Famous Bone Valley, Florida. It is 2 1/8 long, it may not be big, but it has great color, and nice location, and a bargain price!

if you're intrested in megalodon teeth, or other fossil shark teeth, i've already told someone this, but i want everyone this... www.megalodonteeth.com is where you need to go! I've bought over $2,000 worth of teeth from Steve, and his teeth are always great quality, rare colors, and bargain prices. I know the teeth may be expensive, but big teeth are getting rare to find now, and he has honestly the best prices, if there's anything that you want that you dont see on his web page.. email him, he'll have almost anything you want.
