Check out both of these sites for great info, but, I've kept captive bred seahorses and found them to be pretty easy to keep. They do have special requirements, but so do any other animal. What I found hardest about keeping the was all the **** babies. Every 15 days out popped anouther 20-50 babies. Guess how many I still have? None. Those little guys are HARD to keep alive.

Good luck. Seahorses are a blast to watch.

Cheers...Michael

Any seahorse can be black, or yellow or red. They change color to suit their moods, or the back ground, etc. I've keep CB kudas and procerus. The procerus were the ones that had all the babies. Do a lot of reading before you get any. There aren't many fish that you can keep with seahorses and most hard corals are out too.

I bought seahorses from Imagine-Ocean.

Seahorses are a lot of fun to keep if you do your homework first.

Good luck...cheers...Michael

Just remember they have to be fed daily and often. Mine were pygmies but the tank is kinda hard to keep clean. Required two water changes a week. Which isn't so bad since I could keep a colony of over twenty in a 10 gal tank. If I do it again, I would get emperors or Kudas in a tall tank, make sure they are eating frozen mysis.

Jenn at Imagine Ocean can get captive bred horses that are eating frozen food. They still have to be fed often, but it is much easier with frozen food.

Yes, they eat frozen mysis. There are some pics on my web page. Just scroll to the bottom and click the seahorse link on the right side. Unfortunately we don't still have them, but intend on getting more once I reduce the number of tanks I have. E-mail Jenn about price, I can't remember how much they were.
