The pluming is done. I am working on a setting up a new tank so it will be an ok band aid for now. The prop inside came off its shaft. It does not leak water but it doesn’t rotate back and forth now.

Don't they come with a warranty? I thought that it was something like 6 months.

Sorry that it quit on you so soon!

I keep hearing hit and miss experiences with the SCWDs. I've had one in my closet for almost a year for whenever I get around to putting in a closed loop system. However, maybe I'll look for something else more reliable. Glad to hear it didn't leak though, as that is probably my bigger fear.

The two problems I hear the most are:
1. shredded gears
2. slow leak around the intake barb

Oh, I did hear the company that makes them has good customer service. They'd probably replace yours if you call.

I've had one on a 75G with an Iwaki 30RLT on it for about a year with no problems.

The only thing I've noticed is that one output runs noticably (but not ridiculously) longer than the other one. Then again, I haven't cleaned it either.

The pump is pushing about 75% open on the valve. Maybe the problem people are having is related to water flow rate. It might not be able to handle the load.
