"Blender Mush". Shredded Nori [seaweed] dry in a blender then add supermarket oysters, red snapper, shrimp, krill, along with fishstore Cyclopeeze, Selcon, Golden Pearls, and DT's Live. The mush paste is spooned into a plastic ziplock baggie and flattened for freezing. The thin nature after freezing is convenient for breaking off a chunk to feed.

It was very ad hoc. A little of this, a little of that. Use a little RO water to help it blend.
What I got out of the demo, was:
o You can use raw seafood from the grocery store. Nori can be bought at the oriental market for low cost.
o look for seafood that at least says that it doesn't have preservatives (though it might anyway)
o someone suggested using the scraps that are $1/lb (not sure if available at all grocery stores). Also, good to discard any freshwater meat.
o Cut/tear the nori up before sticking it in the blender or else your blender will hose up. Not to mention that it is hard to break frozen peices off if the nori is in long strips.
o You can make one nice slab of food that feeds the carnivores, the herbivores, and the corals that eat the DTs.
o The fish love it. We tried the conconction out on Wasabi's fish.
Also, I learned:
o Some pet fish eat better seafood than I do.
o Your wife may make you buy a blender "just for the fish" if you let her see the results

What do you mean "see the results"; how about "smell the results"?

You all need to take a lesson from my 4 year old son.
I didn't take home any mush from the meeting and was feeling a little guilty at not getting my fish a special treat. A few days latter was going through the seafood department when I saw a seafood variety package. It contained Octopus, Squid, mussels, clams, and shrimp. Was a small package --- only $3.00 so I figured I would add a few ingrediants from home and make a batch of mush.
When I brough this home my 4 year old son took one look at it and just had to eat it (he loves seafood). So I split the package in half. I made the mush w/ 1/2 and with the other 1/2 I fried it up in a pan with tomatoes, butter and garlic powder. My Son and I had a nice appetiser before dinner.
There's nothing better than seeing a 4 yead old pop a baby octopus in his mouth and totally love it.
See the fish don't get it all --- they have to share too.

One thing you may want to also add is oil, Dana Riddles old reciepe called for a few teaspoons of a mix of oil, corn, veg, and olive I believe
Along with a little bit of liquid lethicin to emulsify the oils.
I also add some selco to the mix, I used to add the selco in when I made the food, now I just soak the food in selco before I feed it to the tank.

Whenever I make it, I prefer not using oils or selcon. I use Zoecon and Phytoplex to avoid it being too oily. For some reason the "white-oily" fishes like mackeral and smelt doesn't seem to be a fave with my fish. I prefer to leave as much shell and carapace on the shrimp but I use a carnovore version for my puffers. The dollar a pound stuff I get from Harry's, and or any of the local oriental style "Farmer's Markets" that sell fresh cut seafood. I get Salmon, sword, whiting, seabass, snapper and grouper scraps. I have to cut some bones out and some of the skin but for a buck a pound it stays kinda cheap. Then go buy some oysters and mussels and stuff, there is a seafood mix at the Buford Hwy Farmer's market for about 4 bucks that is frozen but it plays havoc on a blender so I found it easier to chop up with a knife. As for additives, I have been using Zoe, zoecon, Kent's Garlic Extreme, Marine C, Microvert, Seachem Reef Plus, etc. I have heard that you can use brocolli and spinach instead of nori but I prefer to feed sea based stuff to my reef but I may try it just to try to color the stuff a bit. BTW...I had to buy a 10 dollar blender from Walmart, and as of Saturday, they still had about 5 in the Walmart in Dunwoody in the "Red Tag Section".
