power buy salt?
Is there a power buy for salt anytime this year? Last year we did one with the store in Athens and I think it went off great and I'm sure The pet store loved the traffic as well. Maybe this year we can do one with a sponser?
Just curious, before I go out and spend a ton on salt ?

Not a bad idea. Let me see if I can get a sponsor store interested.

You can get a bucket of Oceanic for about $30 after the reef dicount at marine fish. That is a good deal!

I use Instant ocean though. Is the Oceanic salt 200g?
I've had great success with IO salt and I'm sure I would panic and over analyze stuff if I switched salts now. I don't need that stress.

Never used Oceanic. Only started using Instant Ocean a few months ago. Had used Kent for years but it's more expensive and harder to find.

I have noticed more coraline growth with the oceanic than I did with IO, but it may have absolutley nothing to do with the salt.
Its in 200 gallon buckets, and it dissolves alot better than the IO salt. I never have leftover salt at the bottom of the conatiner after mixing.

Yes, that is the question. I had good luck with Kent before, but I liked Oceanic. Here is what I noted between Oceanic and IO.
Oceanic had buffering issues. Alk kinda dropped. But Calcuim was high and no magnesium depletion.
IO. Great at keeping pH constant but calcium and magnisum depeltion was noted.
Personal Notes: Oceanic mixes very well, and outside of having to add buffer to my system when I do a bunch of water changes, no other issues.
IO doesn't seem to mix that well but I had to add Kalk anyway for Calcium.

You can pay at the meeting, but please honor your committment if you say you want the salt, because he will be making a special order for us.
