Please Join Us!
Welcome to all new posters and familar folks to our new home here at TRT.
If you haven't already become a member of the Atlanta Reef Club, I'd like to invite you to do so.
There are benefits to becoming a member, such as discounts at Sponsor stores, Members Only forum, and other things we're working on such as guest speakers and other events. Last year we had the pleasure of hearing Dana Riddle and Eric Borneman speak to us, and membership will get you discounted tickets to any future events.
If you'd like to join, please come to our next meeting. Visit our website for more details, and you can download a membership form if you wish. The website is linked in my signature line below.
Dues are $20 per year for individuals, $10 for student (13-18), $40 for Corporate. Members of the trade interested in Sponsor memberships can contact me for more information.
Won't you join us?
Jenn

Are you in the trade? Corporate membership is intended for members of the aquarium trade. One of the benefits is an ad on the website. Corporate membership has less benefits than sponsor membership, but it does buy that small ad, and two membership cards to be used by the owner and/or his/her employees and/or immediate family members. Sponsor members in the trade don't pay dues, but instead give a discount to members in good standing as per our guidelines (Sponsor members may exclude other items at their discretion). Sponsor memberships entitle the participating entity to advertising on the website, as well as 2 broadcast emails to our membership per year, as well as free admission to club-sponsored events.
Per the Bylaws of the Atlanta Reef Club:
*****
Section 5 Commercial members shall consist of those individuals holding a financial interest in any phase of the Aquarium or Tropical Fish sales, being either fresh or salt water. Commercial members may not hold office, unless 2/3 voting members approve. Commercial members may vote. Commercial members may not solicit to the General Meetings, or at any other Club sponsored functions. Two (2) membership cards will be issued for use by two (2) direct employees of the Commercial member or by the Commercial member’s immediate family.
*****
Section 10 A sponsor membership shall be given to all aquarium related businesses who, as a courtesy, give all members who present proof of membership in good standing a 10% discount. The 10% discount should apply to all dry goods and livestock purchases throughout the year except shipping/handling, box charges, items currently on sale or discount, tanks, stands, canopies/hoods, lighting, and salt. Other items can be exempt from the 10% discount if the Sponsor member gives notice to the Board of Directors. Sponsor members may not hold office, unless 2/3 voting members approve. Sponsor members may vote.
*****
If neither of the above applies to you, then an individual membership would be appropriate.
Hope this helps,
Jenn

How are you accepting funds? PayPal? Credit Cards? Checks? Wampum?
Cheers...Michael

Just cash and checks right now -- but Pay Pal is an interesting idea... will have to bring that up with the powers that be.

Well...it PAYS to join. I visited Imagine Ocean and saved the amount of a membership in one trip thanks to the 10% discount I received as a member.
I think the club is worth supporting even if I don't make the meetings. I think that dues are a fair, and ultimately cost-effective, way to show your commitment to an organization that provides the metro Atlanta (and beyond) a very valuable resource.
I still think that you should be able to pay in wampum, though...
Cheers...Michael
