Pic of Hydnophora Attacking Another Coral

Here is a pic of my Hydnophora attacking a nearby milliepora.
The Hydnophora spews out a spider web like substance when the other corals around it grow too close. Where ever the web like substance touches the other coral it dies. This is the third time this coral has been attached, I got a shot of it right after it happened this time.
Cool stuff.

Mike

Mine blasted one of my blasto colonies (literally). Thankfully those corals can take a beating, but I wasn't too thrilled regardless.

I had the same problem when mine got too close to other corals. I had to move it several times to give it enough room. I never lost a whole colony, but did have to break off the parts it killed. When I set up a new tank, the hydnophora will be at least 6 inches from anything it could kill.
Just my two cents,
Richard

There's a waiting list for frags of that coral, mainly because I'm too chicken to frag it!

Do you have any pics of the rogusa? I'd like to see it.

i can get one loaded tonite. its a small frag about 1"x1.5" that i have had almost a year. i have heard that most people either have a really slow grower or lightning fast. so far its only grown a tiny bit.

Hydno's stretch out like crazy though. I had one reach seriously like 1/2" to latch onto one of my caps. They are brutal! So cool though under actinics!

Frag it. Just get a pair of needle nose pliers and brake off a branch. Done it a bunch. or a saw if its pretty thick or odd shaped. Don't be scared. Frag it

I have one frag you can have.
