Out of town....

Hey yall I am gonna be goin out of town for ten days in a week or so and wanted to get some ideas on what yall do when yall go out of town in regards to your tanks. I can get someone to come over every other day to feed and top off, but will that be enough? I plan on checking calcium levels and all the other stuff the day I leave and add the needed amount if needed and my lights are on timers. I'm mostly concerned for my clown, and was wondering if anyone knows of any fish stores that could take it in for that period of time. Any suggestions??

For a week trip, we will usually have someone come over twice to feed the fish. We have automatic flake feeders on the tanks, and all but one fish eats flake. Other than that, we have the person check the water levels once and add buffer mid way through the week. Basically the same things that we do when we are home. Not much more is needed.

As for stores, I have seen the Aviarium take in fish for people, but typically it is for catastrophic reasons (tanks leak and need time to get a new one up and running).

I use one of those little weekly medicine pill boxes to put my fish food in that the fish should be fed. That way I don't have to worry about over feeding. The fish are only fed the amount that is in the box for that day. Helps prevent over feeding which is very easy to do when someone else is taking care of your tank.

Either the pill boxes or I use the tiny plastic baggies you can get at an arts and crafts store.
