Off topic: Info about Cherokee Co Water Sytem experiencing water outages
The following info was obtained from Tom Heard, Manager of the Cherokee County Water and Sewer Authority at 8:45am on Fri.
For those of you that get county water and live in Cherokee County, especially in the southern half, you may be experiencing water outages which in most cases should be temporary due to performing water pressure tests.
Several roads in S. Cherokee were totally washed out resulting in breaks in the county's water lines.
The Cherokee County Water and Sewer Authority (CCWSA) have been working to resolve these problems since last night. In an effort to locate all of the breaks in the water lines, the CCWSA is temporarily closing off sections of the county's water line and performing pressure test to locate leaks. This testing may occur thoughout today (Fri) until all of the leaks have been located.
On a separate note, the CCWSA says that the Etowah River, where it gets its water supply for the county, is nearly at the 140 year flood mark and the river is expected to keep rising.
