New Reefer

I'm a new reefer and looking for any live rock for sale cheap and give-a-way. Also any coral frags. I've started with a 40 gal tank.

Welcome to TRT and the ARC!

Could you provide more information about you tank?

I noticed a comment, in another thread, about the type of lighting you are thinking about using. What type of tank do you want? That decision will make a lot of difference in the type of lighting as well as other types of equipment.

I hope you can join us on 2/11 in Marietta. There will be several people willing to help.

I've got a small 40 gal tank adn would like a good variety of hard and soft corals. Got a 6 yr old and 2 yr old wo both want to see things moving, so I got to think about "moving things". Any help. From what I've read, I could probably get by with 2 VHO and 2 actinics, but don't plan on keeping clams and most SPS. Is that about right or am I "Lost and Confused"?

I have never had VHO lighting but know of several people that have very nice reef tanks with them. I have 96w PC's.

How long has you tank been running and what type of equipment do you have on it?

The tanks been up almost a month. the only equipment are 2 maxi jets power heads and a BakPakII skimmer. So far only about 20 lbs of LR and LS. Need to get another 20-30 lbs. I've got a nice cluster of polyps and a decent start of xenia. Only a couple of fish. Chemicals are good but I can tell that the xenia need more light, they no longer pulse and look weak. Polyps have also started losing their color.

Any help with lighting would be appreciated

Cool

polyps

whenever you get your lighting figured out I have some really nice metallic green button polyps I'll give you some of. I bought the original rock in FL last April and these things are going crazy. I'd be happy to give you or anyone else some if you want. I traded 3 small colonies today for a branching green metallic hammer with 3 heads and an alveopora. If you or anyone else is interested let me know.
