new camera, new pics, dialup beware

Still learning how to use it. It's an Oly C-7070. I hope to pick up the underwater housing for my B-day.

yes I own some of this dreaded weed

Here's a full shot, looks bare because the corals and rock are washed out. Still learning... I like the pic though because the whole gang of fish are visible.

It's no secret I am a A. millepora fan, here's a pink one grown from a frag given to my by my buddy back in Denver. I prefer corals with history, such as from friends, over any LE coral:

This is probably the furriest acro I have. In person it is green with highlights of yellow and pink. Really pretty, but I'm still learning how to capture those subtle colors.

Here's a better pic, depicting the color:

How did this ventalina get in there?

Looks like you are picking it up real well!

The macro shots are real nice. My favorite is the side view of the "green" milli (that looks brown in the pic) because of the lighting. The next fav is the xenia, because I love real close macros... The pink one is an interesting pic as well. Maybe try to increase the depth of field on the next try to get more of the front of the coral in focus. Real nice though... can't wait to see what happens when you get the underwater housing.

Mark, I don't fool around with any of that crap. I just take a buttload of pictures then throw away 95% of them. Also, I crop out what I don't want in the shot.

What's the one all the way on the right in the whole tank pic? It's purpleish....

Love the firefish, by the way. Do you have the top covered so they can't jump?

The purple guy on the right is a gorgonian. It has a lot of history too. I bought the original colony back in 1997 in Colorado. It moved with me to Atlanta. Eventually I had to take a break because I had life stuff going on, so I sold off all my corals. Luckily, my buddy in SC had a bunch of my stuff, so when I jumped back in, I got a lot of my old corals back. Including the gorg.

One of the other Denver migrants was the bali green slimer, that I gave a frag of to Rick. He grew the heck out of it, and managed to seed everyone else's tank with it. That guy can grow the heck out of coral! Anyways, like I was saying, I like corals with a story behind it way more than any Tyree LE corals.

oh, and the tank is topless. But I think the low rockwork keeps the helfrichs away from the turbulent surface. So far so good, no expensive fish jerky yet.

The sea fan's doing great. I'm suprised how quick it grows. It's also not as delicate as I thought it would.

Finally got a hold of a Oregon Tort, but it's the size of a pinky fingernail. And it's a slow grower. So I may have a fragable colony in 2010!

3 x 250WDE and 4 x 39W T5's. The DE's are AB 10k's, and the T5's are some kind of actinics.

Mark - Awesome setup! The fish and corals both look great. I plan to get the oceanlight for my next tank (50 SPS cube), and I'm glad to see another tank doing great w/ the lights. How are they working out for you?

Thanks,
Kayla

PS - You have a PM

Thanks Kayla,
Lights are working out great. When I first switched to them, my corals browned out which really dissapointed me. But they were just photoadapting. They've been growing under the new light for 5 months now, and all the colors are back. Some are even more colorful. I also like not having to deal with a canopy. Working in the tank is a breeze.
