Montipora question

Hello all just as a side note I am finally getting around to joining ARC and upgrading to MH finally.
But now to my question.
Can a montipora capricornis turn back to purple, the color it once was when I purchased it? It has been doing great and has grown about 3/4 inch over a few months under my 96 Watt aqualight, just brown since I have owned it.

It can and will, but not under that intensity of light, most likely.

yeah it will wth MH. be sure to acclimate the tank to that much light when changing so you dont bleach everything out.

It will probably gain it's color back with the lighting change and if your tank is free of nitrates and phosphates.

i have found in the past that my caps colored back up slower than most everything else, which for a while confused me as i could see they were growing nicely.

there are a number of threads on light aclimation, which will be very important to read now that you are doing such a big upgrade.

Thanks for the help, I am glad to hear it will color back up, and I plan to move my MH up high at first and work them down slowy due to my small tank size.

Thanks again.

usually up high means a few feet. atleast that is what i hear most people having the best success with.
i have found that taking a pic of the before and after will tell you bettter of where your light comparison is. most of the times our eyes just see that MH is brighter, but a pic can actually show you how much brighter the tank is and that should help you judge where you stand with acclimation and placement.
