MAG replacement impeller not the same?

I bought a replacement impeller for a new MAG 9.5 today and when comparing it to the original one I noticed a couple of differences. the replacement (just holding it for maintinance/emergency purposes) is a bit shorter than the original. the "endcaps" on the shaft are a bit shorter too. I can swap the parts when the time comes but just wondering why they are not identicle? it seemed to fit ok so maybe the length is not that critical? by swapping the end caps the length would be ok but if using the shorter end caps there is a gap of free space on the shaft at the impeller.

There is a mag 9.5 A ......there also is a Mag 9.5 B the two are not compatible when repacing parts.

oh man, thats it. The impeller box says 9.5 A, so I guess I have a 9.5 B. yep. back of pump sticker says 9.5 B. didnt know there was a different version of the pump. back to the store tomorrow. thanks.
