Looking for personal experiences with H&S Skimmers...
Anyone here ever run one? I'm about decided that's who the new skimmer will be coming from.
Thanks!
Dan

I have a H&S A150-F2001 and a H&S Calcium Reactor for my 125 gallon reef. Both work well and the support from Brian at Fins Reef is excellent. I currently have the skimmer adjusted to fill the cup every two days with medium brown skimmate, in the past I was running the skimmer really wet but had to empty the cup at least once every day and got tired of it. The reasons I went with H&S were the build quality and the low power usage, the skimmer pump uses only 38 watts. I would not hesitate to buy H&S again.

Thanks for the input. I'm having trouble understanding your post though. I can't seem to find any references to H&S in there. Could you clarify for me, please?

Seriously Clay - I know the MRC's rock and roll. That's why they are still on the short list.
Cheers!

Thanks Jsmith. I really appreciate hearing that. What kind of noise level and maintenance issues are you experiencing? I've read that they are extremely quite and don't need much more than the usual foreign object removals and monthly scrubbing.
Rob - thanks for the pointer. I've actually been spending quite a bit of time on RC reading about these and have seen fligers' numerous posts on them.
Cheers,
Dan

As far as noise level goes, its definately not the loudest thing on my tank. If you open the stand you can hear the air intake, thats about it. There is virtually no noise from the pump.
For maintenance, I have taken the pump apart and soaked the impeller in vinegar twice in the last 6 months.

Didn't think I was getting any anyways....
But IMO the MRC skimmer is the best on the market and I have had several plus Andy is local and you get the reef club discount

Actually - I think you are all high. I'm buying an industrial air compressor and sinking some big airstones in a sewer pipe. That'll work better than anything out there.
