Looking for overflow/pump advise

I am looking for some advise on my new tank, and will admit that I'm in way over my head. I have a 180 gallon tank with a center overflow that has two internal 1 1/2" bulkheads. I plan on running one bulkhead to my sump/refugium and using a Mag18 as a return to the tank. I would like to use the other bulkhead to feed an external pump (sequence 4200 seq or reefflo dart) for a closed loop...
Can my overflow handle this volume of water?
Will I be able keep the water level in the sump balanced?
Any and all help is appreciated.

A 1 1/2 pipe will drain 1650 GPH. I would lose the mag and run the 4200 only. If your sump is large enough and can handle fiow . Do a gate valve on the pump to adjust the flow. like so vvvvvvvv

Thanks for the advise Tim, unfortunately I did not drill the sump for an external pump. I had to disassemble the stand to put the sump in and don't want to do that again. How about running 2 MAg 18's in sump, one plumbed as a closed loop piped in and out and one for the fuge? With the head loss due to pipes/plumbing do you think this would work?

That will work !!

Your Idea will work fine Bill, The stand pipe for the closed loop needs to be lower then the return stand pipe and must have a defuser on it preventing any wayward victums from being sucked into the CLS.

I made this defuser from a 3" end cap and the sucking on any 2-3 holes is not enough to hold a fish down to it.

Here Bill, I have waved my standerd design fees
I drew the pump 180 out, my bad
This design will allow you to controle the speed via the gate valve and it also allows servicing of the pump
it will also keep the pump out of the water ruducing the heat in your sump.
