little giant pumps???????

we have a new Little Giant 3-mdq pump and need some advice here.

Just how hot and loud should an LG 3-mdq become?
ours is too loud for comfort, too hot to even think about touching.
the pump now smells like a hot motor that is almost intoxicating.

I did not think that this was the case with LG's.
if so then other than Iwaki what is another good, QUIET, reliable pump?
Gen-x seems to fit the budget best, any comments?

is it new, if so do they come pre-oiled....
mine(4-mdq-s) isn't loud, and is only warm to the touch....turn it off until you figur it out or you will burn it up

I use the Blue Line (champion lighting) or Pan World (marine depot) pumps.

CBA also sells these now.

Same pumps just different name branding. These are strong and very quiet pumps.

I've had two running for a little over six months and I am very happy with them.

Cheers
Mike

As far as noice it's about 10x quiter than my Mag7

I second Mobius opinion:
I use the Blue Line (champion lighting) or Pan World (marine depot) pumps.

Quiet and comfortable to touch.

I have a 4-mdqx-sc and mine gets real warm but not hot. It does have a whirring kinda noise but its not loud enough to be bothersome. I got this one used and have been using it for 1 1/2 years now and really like it. Unlike my mag 12 return pump the lg doesn't put any heat into the tank.
