IMAX Reef Adventure

I'm a newbie in the forum and to the reef community in general, about to set up my first tank (200 gal reef). Anyway, my wife stumbled on an interesting thumbnail in the Feb. issue of Woman's Day that I thought everyone around here might be interested in.

"Fans of the marine world will adore the new IMAX movie, Coral Reef Adventure. To film the movie 2421 dives were made, during which 5 new fish species were discovered. The results are a Technicolor spectacular. Catch it at an IMAX theater new you."

Not sure how many of you have seen an IMAX show but I can tell you from experience, they are GREAT! Seen shows on the Sawtooth wolf pack, Mt. Everest and humpback whales to name a few. Before my now 3 year old daughter was born we used to go to Martini’s and IMAX down at Furnbank. Great atmosphere and an even better show, grab a few of you favorite beverages and see a great show

Haven't been since before my wife got pregnant but we are getting the itch again. You know, the parents’ night out by our selves for a change. Not sure what the release schedule is for this one but it sounds like it will be very good show. May also be a great activity for ARC. Just a little food for thought.

Hi dcruce and welcome to The Reef Tank.

The TN Aquarium has an IMAX theatre. Last time I was there they were showing a reef movie but I'm not sure if it's the same one you're referring to. It was a great film but the IMAX movie aboard the space shuttle was absolutely stunning. It was like you were there.

I've seen things get a little interesting down there a time or two. It's funny how some people tend to act after they get a few in them!

CoralKeeper, I plan on calling Fernbank next week to find out what the schedule is. Ended up on the road today and didn't get a chance. I'll post whatever the schedule is for this one early next week.

Hey GaReefer, good to see another "local" here in Woodstock.

Hi Dcruce - I'm another neighbour -- just up the road from you!

I saw "Into the Deep" at the TN Aquarium a couple of weeks ago that was 3-D IMAX. Very interesting but the 3-D gave me a headache my bad eyes didn't like it too much but I thought it was very neat because the 3-D brings it all right into your face and it was funny to see people reaching up to "push" the Kelp out of their way
