I am kinda gettin excited about this meeting. I hope I can make it. My tank is 90% cycled. I added fish to my tank this week and I will do a massive 100+ water change Friday. I am looking forward to having a reef tank. Especially since I have been working on this since Jan. I didnt know it would be 4 months before I had a coral in my tank when i started this hobby.

Bad idea on 100+ WC. you want to do just 10% WC weekly only. too much WC will hurted your tank.

Really? Walt Smith says to do a 50% - 70% water change once the rock is done cycling. Anyone else care to chime in on this?

If the tank is new, and doesn't have any inhabitants, then I would go with the Walt Smith recommendation of performing a 50%-70% WC. It should serve to flush some of the pollutants out of the tank that have built up in the water due to cycling.
The danger of a large WC is that it can be hard to get the new water and the old water in your tank to the same temperature, pH,etc. If the two are different, a large WC can put stress on your fish and corals by due to the rapid changes in water parameters. Under normal circumstances, I try to limit my WCs to 20% at one time (which is a fairly large WC).
Sometimes having to do a large WC is unavoidable, like after a "snowstorm" or just after having to treat red bugs with interceptor. Should you have to perform a large WC, make sure that at least the temperature of the new and old water are as close to each other as possible.
HTH,
Michael
