How to Reattach Colt Coral

I was wondering if anyone had any usefull tips as to how to reattach my colt coral. It came off its attachment point (rock) in 3 pieces and I do not have a clue as to how to get them to stick to one place now.

Please Help

It takes a while. Use some tulle from a fabric store and pin it down somehow over the piece of colt.

Or a rubberband. Just not too tight.

If you use the tulle, make sure its gently on top. Apparently I had mine on too tight and the colt ended up disintegrating underneath it.

I've also heard that sticking a toothpick thru the base, and attaching each side of the toothpick to a rock via rubberband works well.

I use a plastic toothpick and stick it vertically through the stem into a tiny hole in the rock. The toothpick needs to be tight in the hole so that it won't come out and float away. Make sure the colt is touching the rock. Put in a lower flow area. This method will take at least a week. In my opinion, colts are the hardest coral to attach.

Good luck,

Pam

I use the same method as pam except I break the toothpick in half and loctite (super glue gel) the 2 half toothpicks in place. once the frag is attached I just twist the glue and it snaps right off. then pull the other end out of the colt.

I have never really had a problem. either use the tootpick and rubber band method (take a toothpick and run it through the base, and rubberband the toothpick to the rock), or the netting method as mentioned above, or even the Pam's toothpick method number 1a. Another trick that Mike (graffyn) taught me with xenia and other leathers (never tried with a colt but should work) is he buries a small rock in the substrate about 2 inches or so in. Then buries the base till it is touching the rock he wants it to attach it too. After about a week, it attaches.
